About Me

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Hughes graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and completed a three-year family medicine residency from John Peter Smith Medical Center in Fort Worth. He also completed a three-year emergency medicine residency in El Paso. He served as an assistant clinical professor of emergency medicine in El Paso, Texas, and an associate clinical professor of emergency medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. In 2008, he went on to complete a one-year fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. 

Dr. Hughes was also an active duty Naval Flight Surgeon in the United States Naval Reserve. He was stationed in Adak, Alaska as well as Oak Harbor, Washington. He has enjoyed a variety of aspects of family medicine, including pediatrics and elderly care. He is fluent in Spanish and has many years of experience in geriatric and end of life care. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Care. Dr. Hughes has a magnetic personality and is known for his enjoyment of travel and his passion for practicing medicine.
