Game Changers, dedicated to the heroes at SCMC

Stevens Community Medical Center received an anonymous gift of Banksy art.  It is a print entitled “Game Changer” and it is meant to be a tribute to the incredible work performed by the staff at Stevens Community Medical Center during trying times.  This print can be viewed by all at SCMC near the entrance to the employee and public dining areas.

Banksy is the pseudonym of a talented artist in Great Britain who initially donated this artwork to the University Hospital Southampton during the first wave of the 2020 COVID pandemic. The picture is that of a small boy who has chosen his favorite toy out of a basket of familiar characters including Batman and Spider-Man. That favorite toy, his apparent new hero, is that of a nurse in her full medical uniform; the nurse is wearing a cape and the boy is pretending that she is flying as any superhero would be able to do!

All of the staff members of Stevens Community Medical Center have worked tirelessly since the spring of 2020 when the pandemic was settling in.  The print that was recently received is meant to be a celebration of everyone’s hard work. It could be said that SCMC is a rural hospital full of game-changers who came together with drive, purpose, and resilience to meet the needs of our community.

As our community members and staff continue to respond to the demands of the pandemic, we encourage our community to keep sending support to our healthcare workers, who make high-quality care available in Stevens county.  Our staff at SCMC is indispensable.
