Dementia Support in 2026

Dementia 2026 (1)

Guidance & Support for Families Navigating Dementia

Stevens Community Medical Center (SCMC), in partnership with Western Prairie Human Services, is continuing its Dementia Essentials Support sessions in 2026. These free, quarterly sessions are designed for caregivers, family members, and anyone who wants to better understand dementia or support a loved one navigating the journey.

Dementia changes more than memory—it changes communication, expectations, and relationships. Dementia Essentials offers a supportive, welcoming space to learn, ask questions, and gain practical tools for real-life situations. Whether you are newly affected or have been walking this path for some time, these sessions meet you where you are.

Participants will gain:

  • Clarity about what dementia is—and what it isn’t
  • Insight into what’s happening in the dementia brain
  • Practical tools for everyday caregiving moments
  • Confidence in how to respond, rather than react
  • Support that feels human, not clinical

The sessions are offered quarterly, allowing flexibility to attend when the time feels right for you and your family.
