The SCMC  Respiratory Therapist works closely with physicians and nurses to deliver quality care to inpatients and outpatients. The SCMC Respiratory Therapist is a health care specialist who evaluates, treats, and cares for patients with cardio-pulmonary disorders with physician referral, primarily to outpatients. Specialty services provided by SCMC Respiratory Therapy includes:

  • Sleep Apnea Studies
  • Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Breathing Treatments for Asthma & COPD
  • Critical Care
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Individualized self-management education for lung conditions. Includes breathing retraining skills to improve respiratory strength and function by setting attainable goals. Generally 6-8 sessions over 4-6 weeks
