COVID BOOSTER UPDATE 9/9/22: Recently (9/2/22,) the CDC/ACIP approved the emergency use authorization of the bivalent booster vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna. This vaccine has two strains: the original COVID-19 and the Omicron variant in it. The CDC/ACIP recommendation is that if it’s been 2 months since either completion of your primary series or your last booster shot then you would be eligible to receive this new booster. The Pfizer bivalent vaccine is available for ages 12 and older. The Moderna bivalent vaccine is available for those 18 years and older. SCMC was able to order this bivalent vaccine this week and we anticipate that we should receive it the week of 9/12. When we receive it, we will open up appointments on our website.
