At SCMC, we provide full-time, onsite echo services for adult and pediatric studies. We are fortunate to have Anne Belle, full-time diagnostic medical sonographer, vascular sonographer and cardiac sonographer who has 12 yrs experience as a general and vascular sonographer and 5 years as a cardiac sonographer.
SCMC has a top of the line Philips ultrasound machine offering features required by the American Society of Echocardiogram that perform adult and pediatric echo studies. In rural communities, one can wait anywhere from 3-6 months for an appointment. At SCMC, Anne provides SCMC with full-time, onsite echo service and can see patients within a week. Minneapolis Heart cardiologists read the images and results are back to the ordering provider within a week, often just 1-2 days.
What is an Echocardiogram?
An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart performed by a cardiac sonographer and read by a cardiologist. It’s an overall assessment of your hearts walls and valves and how those areas are functioning. An echocardiogram typically takes 30-45 min.
Talk to your primary care provider if you think an echocardiogram would be right for you. At SCMC, we are here for you.
Questions?
Reach out to SCMC Radiology Director at 320-589-7640. A patient does need a provider order to perform a echocardiogram service. If someone feels they could use any of these services a provider order is still needed.
