OB Care Close to Home

OB (2)

At Stevens Community Medical Center (SCMC), we’re proud to provide comprehensive, compassionate Obsterics Care right here in Morris—so you don’t have to travel far to welcome your little one. SCMC has five Family Medicine with OB physicians and one Certified Nurse Midwife who are here for you and your baby.

Warm, Comfortable Birthing Facilities

  • Spacious labor, delivery, and postpartum suites: Each suite is designed to provide a comfortable, private, and home-like environment where you can labor, deliver, and recover all in the same space.
  • Rooming-in or nursery care: Families may choose to keep their baby in-room for bonding and feeding or use the nursery as needed—offering flexibility and support for every preference.
  • Comprehensive pain management options: A full range of options—including epidural analgesia, nitrous oxide, and hydrotherapy—allows you and your provider to choose the approach that best fits your birth plan.
  • Bedside ultrasound: On-site imaging provides convenient, timely assessments throughout pregnancy and delivery without leaving your care team.
  • Cesarean delivery services: When needed, C-sections are available and performed by experienced physicians within our fully equipped facility.
  • Continuity of care: The provider who manages your prenatal visits is most often the same one attending your delivery, ensuring consistent, coordinated care for both you and your baby after birth.
  • Individualized care: At SCMC, you’re never just a number—our team takes the time to understand your needs, preferences, and goals for your birth experience.
  • Lactation support: A Certified Lactation Counselor is available to provide breastfeeding education, assistance, and encouragement to help you and your baby succeed.

Education & Support for Growing Families

  • SCMC collaborates with community partners (like Stevens County Ambulance Service, ECFE, and Options for Women) to offer Labor, Delivery & Beyond classes several times a year—covering prenatal health, labor, baby care, car seat safety, CPR, and more. Registration is available regardless of ability to pay.
  • The Breastfeeding Essentials class, led by a certified lactation consultant and dietitian, covers latch, positioning, breastfeeding success tips, pump basics, and integration into your lifestyle—another standout resource for new parents.
