Additional Uninsured Discounts Available

SUMC NEWS text over a faded collage of medical imagery, including doctors, equipment, and patients. The bottom right corner reads, “We are here for you,” highlighting our commitment to care—including Uninsured Discounts—for all members of our community.

August 14, 2026, Morris, Minn. — Hospitals in Minnesota have an Agreement with the Attorney General’s Office to provide a discount to uninsured patients with household incomes less than $125,000. SCMC has automatically given a 22% – 25% discount to all uninsured patients with no income verification. It has come to our attention that we had miscalculated the discount rate by using the wrong commercial insurer’s discount percentage. Uninsured patients who were seen between mid-2020 and the end of 2025 will receive a letter from SCMC in August 2026 that explains how to apply for an additional discount of 19% – 20% if their household income was less than $125,000 in the year of service. Refunds or a reduction of medical debt will be issued appropriately for all eligible applicants. We apologize for this unintentional error.

At SCMC, providing excellent, affordable care is a top priority. If you have any questions about the financial assistance options we have available, please reach out to Patient Account Services. At SCMC, we are here for you.
